Privacy Policy
Arabika ("we", "us") runs the website arabika.co.uk, the Arabika radio stream and Arabika's social media accounts. We are based in Manchester, United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal information we handle and why, in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Visitors to our website and listeners
- You can read the news and listen to the radio without creating an account.
- Our servers and our hosting and security providers (including Cloudflare) record technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to keep the service running, secure and protected against abuse, and is kept for a limited time.
- Your browser may store small preferences, such as the language you choose. These stay on your device.
2. When you contact us
If you email us (for example info@, studio@ or ads@arabika.co.uk), we use your name, email address and message only to reply and to deal with your request, including advertising enquiries.
3. Our social media accounts and connected apps
Arabika uses the official programming interfaces of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X to publish Arabika's own news posts to Arabika's own accounts. To do this, an Arabika administrator signs in and authorises our newsroom app. From those platforms we receive and store only what is needed to publish on our accounts:
- access and refresh tokens issued by the platform;
- the account or page identifier and public username (for example, the TikTok open_id and username of @arabikauk);
- the identifiers and links of the posts we publish, and any error messages, so we can avoid duplicate posts.
We do not collect information about other TikTok, Facebook, Instagram or X users, and we do not read followers' data, messages or contacts. This information is stored on our own server, protected by access controls, is never sold or shared, and is deleted when we disconnect the account. Access can also be withdrawn at any time from the platform's own app settings.
4. Processing news text
To write social media captions we may send the headline and summary of an Arabika news story to an AI service (Google Gemini). This contains news content only, not personal data about our visitors.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with providers who help us run the service (hosting, security, email), or where the law requires it.
6. Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, object to its use, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). To make a request, email info@arabika.co.uk.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
